Phenology is the study of seasonal changes and connected biological events. By recording what's happening in nature around you, you can start to see patterns and connections that happen year after year. This leads to new insights and amazing discoveries!

This journal features guided questions so you can record what matters and look back to see how the ecology around you is changing. Categories such as habitat, weather, leaves, blossoms, insects, birds, interactions, observations, and personal check-ins allow you to take a snapshot of the natural world at any given time.

For example, at my house I've noticed that box turtles seem to be on the move after the first heavy rain that knocks acorns out of the trees. I'm looking forward to seeing if this happens year after year or is only an occasional coincidence. I also noticed this year that gulf fritillary butterflies arrived later than usual, but I don't know if this is due to moisture, temperature, or maybe both. I'm excited to see when they arrive next year!

This flexcover journal has 200 pages, cream textured paper, and rounded corners, as well as a satin bookmark and elastic clasp. The binding is sewn lay-flat binding and the overall size is 8.5 inches by 6 inches.
